Spoof ford Men's Retreat
Courage comes from having a relationship with God:
And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend. (James 2:23 NIV)
- Example of Abraham who was courageous in leaving his land.
The Basics
1. He is God ... He created us.
2. He loves us and knows what is best for us.
How can we have a loving relationship with God the right way?
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' (Mark 12:30 NIV)
1. God wants us to love Him with our mind
A. Love Him thoughtfully.
Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death. (Hebrews 11:19 NIV)
B. Giving God your attention.
2. God wants us to love Him with our soul
A. One of the best is music.
B. You can use your bodies.
C. Just to say "thank you"
- sometimes we just don't realize how much God loves us (to the point of suffering and death)
- the heart of worship is surrender!
3. Love Him with all our strength.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, (Colossians 3:23 ESV)
- if you want to make your work an act of worship, you don't have to change where you work, you just have to change who you work for!
- in life it is not what you are that matters, but who you are
- it is not what we do, but who we do it for
- courageous living is about living out your life where you are (for God)
