Christ Living Through You
Colossians 3:10-17

1. Put on the Character of Christ.
and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Colossians 3:10-12 NIV)
There are no distinctions of ethnicity, culture, nationality, socioeconomic status. We are all God's chosen people. We have all of Christ living in us. Do we possess the character qualities found in Christ?
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. (Galatians 5:22-24 NIV)
2. Handle conflict with others the way that Christ would.
Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. (Colossians 3:13-14 NIV)
When my security is in Christ, secure in His grace and love, His life in me allows His grace to flow through me, allowing us to forgive others.
3. Develop habits that keep the life of Christ flowing through you.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:15-17 NIV)
a) Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.
⚫️Is there something that I'm not obeying or trusting God with? If yes, there will be no peace until I repent. That's how we let the peace of Christ, the umpire, rule in our lives.
b) Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
⚫️We need to let the message of Christ (scripture) enrich our lives so that we can enrich the lives of others (we need others as well).
c) And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
⚫️Whatever we do, we need to honor Christ in our lives. We need to live out the Gospel in our lives. Is His life being reflected in my life and actions? Is the life of Jesus flowing through me to those around me?
