Seeing the Harvest

Seeing the Harvest
Matthew 9:35-10:1

1. Jesus has compassion for the people were harassed and helpless, like a sheep without a shepherd. (9:36)
- we are like lost sheep without the Good Shepherd in our lives.
- people are more likely to turn to God in terms of stress or crisis in their lives.
- more people are needed to be ambassadors for Christ as the harvest is ripe.
- we need to invest in the lives of people that God has put into our lives. Share our story and invite them to church.

2. In order to feel as Jesus felt, we need to see people as He sees them.

3. Because Jesus saw people the way He did, He saw the Harvest as plentiful.

A Matter of Perspective

A Matter of Perspective
John 4:28-38

1. We often need a different perspective.
John 4:35 Don't you have a saying, 'It's still four months until harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.

Matthew 23:23 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

In what way do we need a new perspective?

2. Challenge conventional wisdom and see things from God's perspective.

3. God's perspective on the harvest.
Luke 10:1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.

Are we ready to share the gospel? The harvest is plentiful!

"You In?"

"You In?"
1 Corinthians 12:1-11

1. You need to know that every believer has at least one spiritual gift.
Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4:8-11 ESV)

Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. (Romans 12:6-8 ESV)

2. You need to discern your own spiritual gift.
- reading the Bible
- through prayer
- asking other believers; affirmation through others

3. You need to learn to use it.
- not one gift is superior to another
- use it for others benefit, not your own
